HALT are Nathan Shwalbe and Craig Earp. An electronic music duo from Birmingham, UK, forged in the winter of 2019. This is the sound of nostalgia rotting at the edges. Dream logic turning sinister. Occult frequencies bleeding through the rain-slicked concrete of their brutalist city. Following their debut Erbium Records release Transient Ridge, Memory Fields arrived as HALT's first full-length album - a document of something half-remembered, half-prophesied. Released October 29th, 2020. Vinyl long gone. In the silence that followed, word travelled. A string of UK performances led them underground to a secret cellar in Frome, Somerset, and then to a summons - in June 2023, HALT were invited by the legend Regis (Downwards Records) to perform at Birmingham's Centrala for the label's 30th anniversary, standing among those who carved the path.That night they shared the space with Surgeon, Regis, Russell Haswell, Mick Harris's FRET, NONEXISTENT, Samuel Kerridge and Antonym. A circle closed. A thread pulled tighter. Now they are deep in the crucible, on the cusp of releasing their first album for the label. Slag Anthems on Downwards Records.
